Kochadaiiyaan Movie Review

A jewel in the crown of Tamil cinema. Here comes Kochadaiiyaan, country’s first 3D Motion capture Technology film. With Rajinikanth around, anything and everything is grand. So is Kochadaiiyaan. The film directed by Soundarya Ashwin Rajinikanth, beginsd brisk and ends up a story that touches our heart.

Rajinikanth all the way with his baravado act, Kochadaiiyaan is simple story of good fighting evil. K S Ravikumar’s swift story and screenplay adds weight to the film.

Deepika Padukone plays the heroine while the film boasts of big names like Jackie Shroff, Nasser, Aadhi, Sarathkumar, Shobana among others.

Watch out for yesteryear Nagesh palying a cameo thanks to motion capture technology. A R Rahman’s songs and cute background score makes it more richer. Rana (Rajinikanth), is a  do-gooder. His heroics help slaved men free themselves and reach homeland. He in turn incurs the wrath of emperor (Jackie Shroff). Things are not rosy for him in his home town. He falls for Nasser’s daughter (Deepika). Rana gets jailed by the King. There is a flashback in which Rana’s father Kochadaiiyaan gets killed. The onus is on Rana’s shoulders to set things right. Its Rajinikanth all the way.  He is awesome and rocks in every frame.

Nasser is awesome and occupies screen space.

The high point of the movie filmmaker Soundarya Ashwin whose vision brings things good on screen. Her dream has come true thanks to her hard work.

Verdict: 5/10
